Winter Break Update
I LOVE winter break.
My winter break from college is always pretty long, usually about a month, and is always a time for me to catch up on life and spend time with my family. It always starts up super busy with Christmas and I find myself running around trying to make the day the best it can be.
I celebrated the Feast of the Seven Fish with my Italian family on Christmas Eve, one of my favorite holiday traditions. After lots of fish dishes, we finish off the meal with Christmas cookies that my Mimi made and ricotta pie.
Even though I’m 22, there is something so magical about Christmas morning. The nice thing now that we are older is that we can all sleep in and take our time. My family woke up late and my Mimi and my aunt came over to open presents and eat breakfast.
Later in the day more of my extended family came over for Christmas dinner. I love celebrating Christmas with my cousins!
The time between Christmas and New Year’s is all a blur because time moved so fast. I know that I spent time with my two best friends from high school, Paige and Alexa. We barely get to see each other now that we all go to college in different states. We also didn’t really get to see each other this summer because we all worked and did internships in different states. The three of us went shopping, to hot yoga, and out for drinks. I miss them so much during the school year, but we are the type of friends that can pick up where we left off!
I did something really fun for New Year’s this year! My boyfriend and I went to Portland, ME and had the best time! I LOVE Maine and Portland was such a fun and different place to ring in the New Year. Portland has so many breweries (read about some of them here). We bopped around to some breweries, got sushi, and walked around the snowy Old Port. Maine is so beautiful during the summer when I am usually there, but it’s magical during the winter.
After New Year’s things started to slow down. I worked a lot at Athleta and spent a lot of time with my mom. I loved working at Athleta and learned so much. Everyday was so much fun because I got to encourage women to achieve their goals by recommending the right products for their workouts. Working at Athleta made me realize that I really want to pursue a career in athletic fashion and athleisure. I love working with clothes that have a purpose.
Now that my winter break is over, I am back at the University of Rhode Island for my second semester of my senior year. Isn’t that crazy? I can’t wait to spend as much time with my friends as possible and learn as much as I can before I graduate!
