My Weekend in Bar Harbor, ME & Acadia National Park

My Weekend in Bar Harbor, ME & Acadia National Park

I am so excited to tell you all about my recent trip to Bar Harbor, Maine and Acadia National Park! For those of you that don't know, I have spent all of my summers in Maine since I was born. My family and I love where we are in Maine (southern Maine) so much, that we never want to leave while we are here during the summer. So, I was so excited when my boyfriend asked me to go to Bar Harbor with him for the weekend to celebrate our 2 year anniversary! I have never been that north in Maine before and now I can't wait to go back! Bar Harbor and Acadia were some of the most beautiful places I have visited.

Here in southern Maine I am by the beach and it is so beautiful too. However, the vibe in Bar Harbor was totally different. Bar Harbor gave off a woods/nature meets ocean/resort town type of vibe, which was so cool. It was so fun to see people walking in the down town area in their hiking books and being able to see the mountains off in the distance. That is something that you don't see everyday where I spend the summer!

I had the best time this past weekend and I did so many new things. Here are some of my favorites that I did over the weekend!

Hiking the Bubbles

Come on, how pretty is this? We started our hike around Jordan Pond (we'll get to that later) and then we went up one of the bubbles. (I think the one to the right?) I had never reallllyyy been hiking before... so I now have a new understanding for the term "that was a hike". Even though it was a little harder than I anticipated (thanks Nick), I still had a lot of fun and felt so accomplished when I made it to the top and bottom. If you have never been hiking before, I totally recommend going just for the views at the top!

Get a Popover at the Jordan Pond House

After our hike I was dead. Literally dead. So we headed to the Jordan Pond House for some lunch. The Jordan Pond House is nestled right in Acadia National Park, overlooking Jordan Pond and the Bubbles. It was wonderful to eat lunch and overlook the pond and the mountain we just climbed.

The best part though was the popover! Everyone that I told that I was going to Acadia told me that I needed to get a popover at the Jordan Pond House. I had never had a popover before, so I didn't understand what the hype was all about. Our waiter described them between as a mix between a muffin and a scone. Not really sure if that's the best explanation, but basically it looks like a muffin, but it is light, airy, and crispy on the inside. I definitely felt a lot better after eating a popover! They are so yummy!!

Driving Along the Water in Acadia

Okay, this one might not seem as exciting as others, but it really was one of my favorite things we did in Acadia. And it was actually by accident because we lost cell phone service and couldn't find our way back to our hotel! We drove along the coast with the windows down and just explored! It was so much fun and we got out to walk on some rocks at one point and it was so beautiful. I think that it is so cool that there are forests of pine trees right next to the water! The views in Acadia are absolutely spectacular!

Watch the Sunset in Agamont Park

Right in downtown Bar Harbor there is a little park that is perfect for watching the sunset! It was filled with families and couples that were there to watch the sunset. It is even beautiful during the day because you can see all of the different boats in the water and the small islands filled with pine trees off in the distance. The night we went the sky was filled with streaks of hot pink and orange, creating a perfect end to our day. We also hit up Ben & Bill's Chocolate Emporium for some ice cream right after and it was delicious!

Drive Up Cadillac Mountain

This is one of the things we did because we had some extra time, and I am so glad that we did! To get to the top of Cadillac Mountain, you drive up this twisty road, with breath taking scenery at every turn. Once we got to the top it was packed! I would recommend going in the morning, instead of the afternoon like us, because there were so many people! At the top, we enjoyed 360 views of Bar Harbor; we could even see our hotel! I used to always make fun of my dad when we went somewhere for reading the plaques that tell you about the history of the site. But on this trip, I was the one being made fun of! I read a few of them and learned that Acadia was the first national park in the northeast and it was all donated by people that owned the land before! How crazy would it be to own a mountain in Acadia!

My outfit is linked here!

I had the most amazing time last weekend and I can't wait to go back someday! I hope you all have the chance to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia sometime soon!
