My Travel Bucket List
You know that Christmas story that talks about kids sleeping on Christmas Eve with visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads? That’s kinda how I feel when I think about all of the places I want to travel to.
Studying abroad made me fall in love with travel and there are so many places that I can’t wait to go to. While studying abroad, I got to explore a lot of Europe and besides North America, Europe is actually the only other continent I have been to. It is my goal to go to all of these places on my bucket list, but my most immediate goal is to go to another continent ASAP.
There is so much in this world to do and see and it makes me so excited just writing about it! Keep reading to hear about all of the places I have to go to before I die!
So I actually haven’t traveled that much in the United States and would really love to more!
The only state in the Northeast that I have not been to. I am sure I will soon because it is close. I would love to go to Burlington and I hear the mountains and the scenery are amazing!
I am actually going this April and I am so excited! My sister goes to school here and it just looks like an amazing place. I can’t wait to walk around the downtown, get some good Southern food, and hit the beach at Tybee Island.
New Orleans for Mardi Gras, c’mon. Also, beignets.
Texas just seems like a really interesting place with a unique culture. I’d love to experience it.
I have been dying to see the Grand Canyon for as long as I can remember.
National parks, yes please!
Some skiing and maybe some more National Parks!
More National Parks, I would love to see the Arches!
There is something intriguing about the Pacific Northwest. I also love Grey’s Anatomy and it takes place in Seattle.
Los Angeles and San Francisco, California
For a tropical vacation and some hiking. Everything about it looks amazing!
I’ve never really been on a beachy vacation and I would love for my first one to be here!
For a little getaway from the U.S. Quebec City is only a few hours away from me, but I have heard that it feels like Europe. I went to Montreal a few years back and I loved it!
I have been DYING to go to Banff! So many YouTubers and Influencers have been going here and it looks like the most picture perfect snowy vacation! I would love to go to Lake Louise and soak in the scenery. It is known for it’s turquoise waters and they look so beautiful. The other part of Banff that these people don’t really show are all of the outdoor activities you can do there! From kayaking on the lake to skiing in the mountains, I am so down for it all.
Havana oh na na. I think Cuba is really interesting because for so long Americans couldn’t go there. For what I have heard, it feels like a country stuck in the past and I would love to travel back in time.
I was deciding between traveling to Peru and Central Europe this summer and ultimately decided on Central Europe. But, I am dying to go to Peru and hike the Machu Picchu! I think Peruvian culture is so interesting and Machu Picchu looks so beautiful. In the past couple of years I have really gotten into hiking and it would be amazing to hike here. This might be my first trip out of North America and Europe!
I would love to see the Amazon Rainforest and spend sometime in Rio de Janeiro! Maybe for Carnival??
Another country with a super interesting culture. Also, I would love to go on a Safari and see some cool animals.
You might think that this is one of the more random choices to have on my bucket list. If you do, you don’t know about Victoria Falls. They are breathtaking waterfalls and some of the greatest in the world.
My aunt has been to Morocco a few times and her pictures look amazing. I feel like it would be a cross between African and Arabic culture. I would love to see the architecture, taste the food, and go to a market!
We all learn about ancient Egypt in school and the Egyptian displays at the British Museum left me wanting more. Seeing the Pyramids of Giza would be absolutely unreal.
I know what you are thinking, I was just there. But I can’t wait to go back. There are so many cities I didn’t get to visit and things I didn’t get to do that I would really love to. Also, I just really have to go back to London because it is my favorite city. I was able to travel to every part of the U.K during my study abroad, expect for Northern Ireland. Next time I go back to the U.K, I have to go to Northern Ireland!
Blue Lagoon!! Friends of mine took a road trip throughout Iceland and said that the scenery was amazing. I would love to take a trip like that. In my upcoming trip to Europe, on the way back I have a 5 hour layover in Iceland. Do I have enough time to slip out of the airport and make it to the Blue Lagoon?
So beautiful, I would love to go on vacation here. One of the only Western European countries I haven’t been to.
I have been to France twice already, but both times to Paris. I would love to go back to Paris with my boyfriend because I think it would be amazing to go back with the person I love. I also really want to go to the south of France, I’m thinking Nice!
Lucky me! I am about to check this one off of my bucket list because I am going in May! I am starting off my Central Europe trip here by flying into Zurich. We are only spending around a day here and then driving into Germany. I can’t wait to experience Zurich and I heard the drive that we are taking is breathtaking! Since my time in Switzerland will be short this time around, I do want to go back and do a more in depth trip of Switzerland. I would love to explore more cities and do some hiking and skiing!
I have actually already been to Germany before, but there are two place I have been dying to check off my list that I am about to check off soon!
Oh my goodness, it feels like a fairytale that I am going in May! I love castles and this one was at the top of my castle bucket list for sure. This is the castle that Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty’s castles were modeled after. May can’t come soon enough.
My friend Brianna studied abroad in Berlin while I was in London and she can’t say enough good things about it! It seems like a melting pot of culture with endless things to do. When I go in May, I really can’t wait to visit the East Side Gallery because I think that World War II history is so amazing.
I have actually already been to Austria twice, but it is on my bucket list because I really want to go to Vienna! I am super excited because I get to check this one off in May too!
Hungary intrigues me for some reason. I am going in May and I am so excited to see Budapest, go to a bath, and try some Hungarian food!
My best friend Ellie studied abroad in Prague and I have wanted to go ever since! The culture is so interesting to me! I can’t wait to walk around Prague in May, chimney cake in hand.
I actually went to Italy in high school, which was a great experience because I am Italian. But when I was there I didn’t get to go to Venice or the Amalfi Coast. I need to see Venice before I die and probably on the sooner side because I hear it’s sinking… The Amalfi Coast looks beyond amazing and I would love to go to the beach there and just indulge in the food!
I need to go to Croatia ASAP. There is something about this country that really attracts me. I would love to go and be by the crystal clear water and enjoy the beach. Another thing that I really want to do in Croatia is go to Krka National Park. It has the most amazing waterfalls and I have to see them before I die!
I actually went to Greece in high school, but I have to go back and go to the islands! I went to Athens and loved it, but the islands look like they would be a different experience. I would love to wake up in the morning and see the blue ocean and the white buildings. I must go here. Greek food is also one of my favorite types of food!
Latvia might seem like a random choice, but it seems like such an interesting part of the world. I watched an episode of The Amazing Race where they went to Latvia and I really like it. Riga, the capital, looks like a really unique city, and after they went to these really cool marshlands that would be so cool to see in person!
I was almost going to go to Poland in May, but it was a little too far out of the way from the other places we are going to. In the future, I think it would be really interesting to go to Aushwitz. Like I said before, I think World War II history is so interesting.
I have heard really great things about Ljubljana, the capital, and would love to explore the castle there and look out over the city. I recently also heard about Lake Bled in a YouTube video I watched and it looked beyond beautiful!
When I was in elementary school or middle school, I watched this episode of America’s Next Top Model where they traveled to Thailand. Ever since, I have been dying to go and it has been at the top of my bucket list. From the beautiful beaches on Phuket to the bustling city of Bangkok, everything about it appeals to me.
My grandparents went on a river cruise in Russia and could not say enough great things about it. There is so much history in this country and for so long I have found it interesting. I’m not sure what this style is called, but I love the architecture of Russian buildings. If you want to know what I am talking about Google Red Square or St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow.
Partly in Europe, with the other part in Asia. To me, it’s more of an Asian country, but who knows? I’ve never been there! From eating Turkish food to roaming the markets in Istanbul, I think I would love every second in Turkey. A huge bucket list destination for me would be to visit Cappadocia, the Turkish hot air balloon festival. Have you seen pictures from this festival? If you haven’t, go look now because it will take your breath away. It is like something out of the movies.
Centuries of history. There is so much to see in Jerusalem and I would also love to lay on the beach in Tel Aviv.
I watch this couple on YouTube and they just got back from a trip to Taiwan. Before I watched those videos, it wasn’t really on my radar. The culture and beauty really appealed to me and they went to a ton of street food markets! Markets are some of my favorite places to visit in a new place. I love food and I think that trying something new is one of the best ways to experience a culture.
Japanese food is one of my favorite types of food ever! When I get the chance to visit Japan, I can just see myself eating lots of sushi and noodles and trying some few fun foods. There is an Asian market near me and my mom and I love to go and try something that we have never had before. How cool of an experience would it be to do that in Japan? Not only would I love to visit the capital of Tokyo, but all over Japan. Visiting a cherry blossom festival, or hanami, would honestly make my life.
So many things are appealing about China. The food, is definitely one thing. China is such a big country and all of the areas are different, so there is so much to see. I think that the Great Wall of China is a big bucket list destination for me.
BALI, honestly I don’t think I have to say anything else!
Have you ever seen pictures of Ha Long Bay? If you have, I am sure it is on your travel bucket list too! How amazing would it be to be on a boat and cruise through the bay?
I think traveling to India would be an amazing cultural experience. Also, after studying abroad in London made me really like Indian food! There is a huge Indian influence in London and there are Indian restaurants everywhere. I would love to go to India and try real Indian food. I would also love to see the Taj Mahal and I better get there soon because I hear it is sinking!? From a fashion major’s perspective, I would also love to roam the market stalls and find some Indian textiles to take home.
Australia is so interesting to me because it has such a unique blend of cultures! Did you know that after Australia was discovered by the western world, Britain sent their prisoners there and they basically formed a country? I would love to go to Byron Bay, lay on Bondi Beach, and explore Sydney!
New Zealand wasn’t on my radar for a while. But, a bunch of people from my high school studied abroad there and all of their pictures and the things they did were so cool! There looks like there are plenty of mountains for me to hike and outdoor activities!
Honestly, as I travel more and more my list doesn’t get shorter, it gets longer. The world is so big and I keep hearing about new places that I must visit. I am determined to make it to all of these places before I die, so keep following my blog to watch me check them all off!
