All Black (Almost) Everything
While getting dressed in the morning, do you ever just stare into the depths of your closet and think to yourself “I have nothing to wear”?
I have lived this moment countless of times. It’s the worst feeling and usually results in me being late for something that is most likely important.
The other day I experienced this moment once again and also felt like I had nothing new to post on Instagram or my blog. I complained to my roommates that I had nothing to wear. They looked at me and just said, “You’re Aliza, you have so much to wear.” In that moment, I decided it was time to go shopping in my own closet.
This outfit is the result of my closet shopping spree! When you feel like you have nothing to wear, you have to get creative. Pull out something from the back of your closet or the bottom of the pile that hasn’t gotten much wear lately. You forget that you have some things, or you might rekindle the love with one of your old favorites.
The best part of this outfit is that I bet you all have a similar variation hiding in your closet that you could pull together in a matter of minutes. This all black look is simplistically chic and here’s why:
Let’s Get into the Look:
A black turtleneck sweater is a staple that every women should have in her closet. Lately in fashion, these guys have made a come back. In the past, turtlenecks were seen as nerdy or conservative. Today I see them as fashion forward and chic. Designers all over the world are sending models down the runway wearing turtlenecks. I wear my black cashmere turtleneck sweater often because it is so soft and cozy, while looking sophisticated. I love it’s versatility. I wore it to my internship last semester with a pair of dress pants, but can also wear it with a cool pair of jeans day to day.
Today, I paired it with backs jeans for an (almost) all black look. I loved the way it made my cheetah print belt stand out and make a statement. There is just something about an all black look that always looks classy and put together.
Cheetah Print Belt
I am all about animal print lately (if you couldn’t tell from this post)! It has been my thing lately to wear an on the simple side outfit with a pop of animal print. Animal print has been a HUGE trend this winter and this little cheetah print belt is an easy way to wear the trend. Because it’s so skinny it provides a little pop of pattern and can be incorporated into many different looks! I also really like this western style cheetah belt. It would go great with this outfit and adds a little bit more spice. I might have to buy it soon because I need allllll the animal print!
Even if you don’t have a cheetah belt like mine, this outfit is still super easy to recreate. Pair an all black outfit an add any belt from your closet. Tuck whatever top you’re wearing into the belt to make it the focal point of the outfit. Bonus points for fun patterns and colors that make a statement!
Did you get a chance to read this post about my hoop earring obsession? If you did, my love for hoops isn’t news to you. I paired these ones with my simple outfit to make it more interesting. Since they are a chunky gold, they add some more fun and interest to the outfit.
Nothing new here. I wear these babies all of the time! They go with everything and are the best foundation to any outfit. If you don’t have a good pair of black jeans, you need some in your life!
Another must have item for me! I wear my black suede booties all of the time. Casually with jeans, paired with dresses and tights, and everywhere in between. I like how these ones have a little bit of a higher heel because it makes them look fancier and more fun than a flat bootie.
Go To Cross Body
Also nothing new here. I love this cross body because it is the perfect size. You can fit everything you absolutely need without over packing. I also love the edge it adds to an outfit because it has super cool hardware. The mini mac comes in a bunch of colors and designs, so you are sure to find one that you love! I recently bought one in a gold champagne color and I think it is going to be perfect for this summer!
I am challenging all of my reader to go shopping in your closet. I am sure that you will combat the “I have nothing to wear” when you are forced to get creative. Rediscover your old favorites and pair pieces together that you wouldn’t normally. You are sure to find your new go to outfit, like I did!
