My Latest Obsession: Poshmark
A place where you can make money and buy clothes at a huge discounted price? Sign me up!
Poshmark is basically an online marketplace where you can buy and sell clothes, accessories, and anything fashion. I have both bought and sold fashion on this app and I absolutely love it. You can find just about anything you are looking for on this app, which is so awesome! A lot of things have only been worn a few times, and that is why the seller is selling. People also sell things that are new with tags and also more worn in items (but they are so cheap).
Thrifting has always been something that I have enjoyed because I love the hunt. It's the best feeling when you find a hidden gem in what feels like a sea of ugly or outdated clothes. Shopping on Poshmark is a similar experience, except the clothes are much cuter and up to date. You can find brands like Lilly, Longchamp, and Jack Rogers and you certainly can't find those regularly at a thrift shop. I also love, with the same thrift shop mentality, that clothing is not going to waste. Before someone starting to use this app they might have just thrown their clothes away because they were done with them, but now clothes get to live a second life with someone else. Yay for being eco friendly!
Once I downloaded this app, I first went through a bunch of my clothes at home. I took pictures of everything, described it, put a price, and waited for the fish to bite. While sitting on my bedroom floor and taking pictures of my clothes, I sold my first two things just like that!
I love the fact that I can make money doing nothing. The only effort is taking the pictures of your clothes and then dropping it off at the post office, or putting it in your mailbox. So far I have made money at the beach, at the gym, and sleeping. Come on, what is better than that?
Once you post your items, someone can either buy it for the price that you listed on the spot, or they can offer you a certain amount. Sometimes you might have to go back and forth with people for a little bit until they actually buy. Then you pack up your item in any box or envelope (I buy bubble mailing envelopes at the dollar store), slap on the pre paid shipping label that you print from your email, and send it off. Some people get pretty fancy with their packaging, which is so fun and makes you feel like you are getting a present. I just opened this one a couple of days ago, how cute:
One of my favorite things about the app is that you can track the things you buy and sell and watch them travel across the country to come to you. It only takes two days too! Not as good as Amazon because the seller has 2 days to send it and then it takes two days to come, but still pretty good!
I sold a ton of stuff this summer, which has been great for two reasons. One, it gets rid of stuff in my closet and two, I get to make money.
Some of that money did go back into Poshmark, because as you know, I love shopping. The app makes it so easy to find what you are looking for. When you first download it, you fill out a "Style Card" with brands you like and also you sizes. Matches will show up on your newsfeed. Also, when you search for something, the only ones that pop up are in your sizes, so it makes the hunt so much easier for you!
My first purchase was a pair of hot pink Jack Rogers jelly sandals. $25, brand new! I love them so much because (if you couldn't tell from the title of my blog) pink is my favorite color. Also, the jelly bottoms are so much more comfortable than the classic Jack Rogers! Most recently, I bought a brand new Asos dress and a pair of shorts for back to school! I wore these shorts on one of my first days of classes and I am saving the dress for when it gets a little cooler, so I can wear it with some cool sneakers and my link leather jacket! Keep an eye out on my Instagram for an outfit post!
